The main equipment of the platform dedicated to organic electronics consists of two systems of interconnected glove boxes. The first system of glove boxes is dedicated to the elaboration and the characterisation of organic photovoltaic cells, and the other one to the elaboration and the characterisation of other electronic devices.

The inert atmosphere into the glove boxes avoids the degradation of materials that are sensitive to ambient air, in particular to water and oxygen.

In these boxes, a regulation system maintains constantly a slight overpressure of the nitrogen atmosphere. By that way, the concentrations of water and oxygen are less than 5 ppm in daily use.

Each glove boxes system is equipped with two air lock chambers of different diameter (15 and 40 cm) that allow to enter and take out samples and more cumbersome equipments.

The system used for the elaboration and characterisation of organic photovoltaic cells is divided into three zones, each one devoted to a particular use:

  • an elaboration zone for the preparation of solutions and the spin-coating of polymers or small molecules
  • an evaporation zone for the deposition under vacuum of organic or inorganic layers
  • a characterisation zone for the study of optical and electrical properties of organic photovoltaic cells
Glove boxes

The system used for the elaboration and characterisation of other electronic devices (OFETs, SCLC devices...) has been funded by ICube, ICS ("Institut Charles Sadron") and IPCMS ("Institut de Physique et Chimie des Matériaux de Strasbourg"). It is divided into two zones:

  • an elaboration zone for the preparation of solutions and the deposition by spin-coating or doctor blading of polymers or small molecules
  • a characterisation zone for the study of electrical properties of these devices
Glove box system for electronic devices like OFETs, SCLC devices...

Insofar as possible, a service activity is provided to other laboratories or companies. The list of possible uses being not exhaustive, it is recommended to contact us for any application, even not mentioned, as far as it is compatible with the technical characteristics of the equipments. Applications can be simply sent by e-mail.
